Group Prenatal Care Sessions Offered at Middlesex Hospital Family Practice

Middlesex Hospital Family Practice is now offering CenteringPregnancy®, a new group prenatal care program, at its Middletown office.

The first group session for expectant mothers (with October and November due dates) will take place on May 20 at 5 p.m. The two-hour sessions offer many benefits, including learning about the baby’s growth and development, the childbirth process and parenting skills, and provide mothers-to-be the chance to share experiences with other mothers going through pregnancy. The groups also include regular check-ups for the pregnant woman along with support and education for women and their birth partners.

Medical research has shown that women who take advantage of this exciting, unique form of prenatal care delivery have:

• reduced rates of preterm delivery

• higher breastfeeding rates

• greater overall satisfaction with the care they receive
