Cancer Survivors Day
May 07, 2006 (1:00 PM to 3:00 PM)
Middlesex Hospital is sponsoring its annual Cancer Survivors' Day on Sunday, May 7, 2006, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Hospital's Cancer Center at 536 Saybrook Road in Middletown."This celebration of life is not only for survivors," said event coordinator Anne Campbell-Maxwell, administrative director of the Cancer Center, "but for the people they care about and those who care about them." Family members (especially children), friends and anyone else who plays an important role in a survivor's life are encouraged to attend.
A cancer survivor is defined as anyone living with a history of cancer — this includes newly-diagnosed survivors as well as long-term survivors.
The theme for this year’s event will be “A Rockin’ Survivors’ Day.” NBC 30 news anchor Joanne Nesti will serve as mistress of ceremonies. The event will also feature inspirational survivor and caregiver speakers, and entertainment provided by the Basically Blues Band. The lead singer of the band, who is also a Middlesex Hospital employee, has written a special song for this event titled, “Look Through My Eyes,” which he will premiere in honor of all cancer survivors, their families and friends.
The event is free and light refreshments will be served. To register, call
(860) 358-2062.
