Safe Sitter
Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized program developed by a pediatrician to train new baby sitters how to care for their charges. Young adults from ages eleven to thirteen can learn rescue breathing and care of a choking infant or child, how to recognize emergencies and call for help, how to manage behavior problems, and how to avoid problems while they are alone with the kids. Parents can relax knowing that their sitter is well trained. Future sitters can ‘market’ their services by telling parents they are graduates of the Safe Sitter program. The program also helps sitters develop the self-confidence and skills to do a good job. The $50 fee includes all materials, and financial assistance is available. The Safe Sitter is offered on a periodic basis. Call (860) 704-3000 to find out when the next class will take place.
