How you can help
When it was founded, local residents and area leaders brought together a vision, a dedication, and the financial support to create Middlesex Hospital. They wanted what each of us continues to want today – to improve the quality of life of our community and have the security of first–rate medical care close to home for our families, our neighbors and our friends.
Our founders set a precedent of caring and philanthropy that remains a cornerstone of Middlesex Hospital. Today, thousands of residents, businesses and organizations make financial contributions to support the many programs that touch our lives. Together, our family of friends are helping Middlesex Hospital reach new heights in serving the people in our community.
The Office of Philanthropy offers many opportunities to support the health of your community.
This site offers you information about the various ways in which you can contribute to Middlesex Hospital and invest in the health of your community.

Support Middlesex Hospital's Emergency Departments
Middlesex Hospital operates three extraordinary Emergency Departments: at the main Hospital in Middletown, and two freestanding Emergency Departments at our satellite Medical Centers in Essex and Marlborough.
From heart attacks, strokes, and any manner of acute illness and injury, all three of our state-of-the-art Emergency Departments receive patients and ambulances from throughout Middlesex County and beyond, regardless of the patient's ability to pay. In cases of severe trauma, helipads are located at each facility to provide quick access to trauma services. Our exceptional team of physicians, nurses, and support staff posess both the skills to save lives, and the caring and compassion to comfort and heal the sick. With Emergency Department locations in Middletown, Essex and Marlborough, our patients can be assured that they will have fast, convenient access to the urgent care they need.
Operating three Emergency Departments is expensive. Diagnostic and treatment equipment, medications and facility maintenance costs are constantly on the rise. But we are committed to our community, and we will continue to expand and improve the services we provide.

A gift may be made through a one–time annual contribution, pledged over a period of several years, or made through a planned gift arrangement. Donations are tax deductible and may be made in several forms, the most common being cash gifts made by check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover).
Gifts may be restricted by donors to a particular area, while unrestricted gifts are directed by the hospital to the area of greatest need.
Gifts of appreciated securities, bonds or real estate may also be accepted.
Annual Giving
Annual gifts help to support the yearly capital expenditures of the Hospital. Over the last decade Middlesex Hospital has reinvested an average of $13 million annually to purchase medical equipment, information technology and update and refurbish its facilities. In addition, funds allocated through annual giving support numerous community outreach programs or specific medical services.
Annual giving activities involve numerous volunteers from throughout the community who assist the Office of Philanthropy office in contacting individuals, businesses and organizations to ask for their support. Annual gifts come in all amounts. If you are a current supporter, thank you for caring and reaching out to help others. If not, we hope you will contact us today.
Leadership Giving
Leadership gifts typically support major hospital projects or programs. This support may come as one single gift or can be paid over a period of years. Often, leadership gifts involve the naming of a specific area. If you have a particular interest or would like to learn more about these opportunities please contact laura_martino@midhosp.org.
Planned Giving
Middlesex Hospital has been the recipient of bequests since it’s founding. If you are interested in leaving a bequest, sample bequest language can be found on our bequest link. Bequests received have been both large and small, what’s most important is demonstrating your desire to help others.
In addition Middlesex Hospital offers several life–income planned gift vehicles. This giving option has become quite popular in recent years for those donors over 55 years of age. Life–income gifts can pay from 5% – 9% for life depending on your age and type of gift. An interactive gift calculator is available.
